Let me introduce myself...

Hi there!  My name is Emily Matthias, and I am so excited and grateful to be an Elementary Education major at Brigham Young University.  This fall, I plan on interning as a full-time teacher.  I was born and raised southern New Jersey, and I'm proud to be from the East Coast!  I also lived in Manhattan my first year of college where I was actually studying Fashion Merchandising.  I realized after that year that I wanted to be doing a job that helps children, and I got the feeling that I needed to be a teacher. I haven't looked back since!  I got married this past summer to my husband, Matt, who I've known since I was fifteen years old.  We both love going back east to visit our friends and families there.  I grew up dancing (I took every type of class out there and competed for about 10 years), and I absolutely love it.  I actually got certified to teach Zumba, though I haven't done anything with it yet.  I also enjoy running.  I love cooking, especially Italian food (mostly because I love eating Italian food!)  I have traveled to Egypt and France, and I hope one day to travel much more.  I work as a teaching assistant at BYU or SFL210: Human Development, a job a really enjoy.  Last semester I did my practicum in 1st grade in Alpine school district, and I absolutely loved it!  I'm excited to see what new adventures the upper grades will hold :)
